| 1. Could be your speed sensor on your transmission. It tells the speedo how fast you are going. If your odometer is freaking out too then this is probably it. 2. Sounds more likely, if you say your odometer continues to work, that the actual speedo itself is bad. If this is the case you can source a new/used speedo or gauge cluster. If you go new speedo route you have to get the correct speedo because they mount in the gauge cluster differently. If you get whole new gauge cluster, then you will not have correct mileage on your odometer. Also, an option is Gary (screen name DVDBurn (MD) ) can usually fix a speedometer on the fritz if you send it to him. He just fixed mine and it is working great. I would contact him.
